Tribute Thursday: No Doubt

Good morning my sexies!

It’s a lovely wet spring morning over here in South Africa and I couldn’t be in a better mood! I woke up this morning to thunder and lightning with a smile on my face and before heading off to the shower and getting ready for my day, I had to run and dance in the rain for a bit and it felt heavenly.

Anyway back to my point.

The band I’m tributing has been around for what feels like FOREVER and have been my favourites since I was a little ninya:

No Doubt

I remember when I was only 4 or 5 years old, loving the song “Don’t Speak” so much when my teenage sister played it over and over again and it made me wanna be a singer. But I can’t sing to save my life. So no.

Well apparently the new wave, ska punk, reggae fusion, punk rock, alternative rock, pop rock band has been around since 1986 and were formed in  Anaheim, California. I seriously can’t believe they’ve been around that long and are still as cool as they are today!

The band has been through some heavy shit of Gwen Stefani and Toni Dumont (guitarist) dating at one stage and keeping it secret, their first lead vocalist John Spence committing suicide and several replacements have taken place, but the band eventually pulled through all the crap and the band still consists of Gwen Stefani – the lead singer -, Tom Dumont – guitar, keyboards (1988–present), Tony Kanal – bass, keyboards (1987–present), Adrian Young – drums, percussion (1989–present) and the touring members, Stephen Bradley – keyboards, trumpet, backing vocals (1995–present) and Gabrial McNair – keyboards, trombone, backing vocals (1993–present). They have also just released their last album entitled; “Push and Shove” with the song Settle Down being their first single off the album.

Other than being absolutely diverse and awesome, the band has managed to stay cool for 26 YEARS! That’s insane.

So if you’re as big a fan as me, check out the videos below:

Have a wicked Thursday!

Manic Monday: My Parlotones Meet & Greet

Greetings my sexy cherries and daggers!
So yet again the disgusting day we all dread is upon us once more (Yes Monday, you can go die now) and we’re counting down the hours and minutes till we can gladly shout out “T.G.I.F” again. Well I am, because I live for the weekends. Speaking of which, mine was a candy-coated wardrobe filled with fun at The Parlotones concert I went to!

As you know I blogged about them on Tribute Thursday last week, see it here:

Friday night me and a friend of mine went to see The Parlotones in concert at The Lyric Theatre at Gold Reef City and after a crazy girl (good crazy) named Taylor opened for them and a Spiced Gold and Coke and a Hunters Gold down my throat, the party officially started!

After dancing my ass off and jumping up and down and headbanging like I would never see tomorrow for almost 2 hours, the concert ended and we went to go “meet and greet” the band. Neil, was a nice chilled guy, Glen, although hot as hell seemed shy, Paul was totally relaxed and cool and Kahn was sweet as sugar. Each of them posed for a pic with me, even though all I had handy was my Blackberry with no flash – Paul called it a Blurberry, he is so right!

I just want to say, if any of you wanna, you can buy me a new phone (lol).

They were awesome, friendly and brilliant on stage and off, and if I do say so myself, I think me and Khan make a damn cute couple! *hint, hint*

Have an awesome Monday further my lovelies!

Tribute Thursday: The Parlotones

Hello again my cherries and daggers,

One day closer and I’m sure you’ll all be singing to the tunes of the weekend!

But for now, I’m going to introduce you to one of the most successful bands in South Africa:

The Parlotones

They are an Indie rock, New wave, Post punk rock band from Johannesburg, South Africa (my home!) and are best known for the cool makeup Kahn Morbee (the lead) likes to wear in their music videos and live performances.

Other than Seether and Prime Circle, the band is one of the country’s favourite rock bands and their album  A World Next Door to Yours has been the best-selling rock album of the decade.

With over 19 awards, 10 albums, 3 EP’s to their names, they are definitely a band to watch… and throw your panties at. Just saying.

Check out their epic music videos below:

Have a kickass Thursday!
