Tribute Thursday: The Zombies

Ola mi amigos!

Totally kidding, I have no idea how to speak Spanish and when fans send me emails in Spanish then Google Translate is my friend. So no. I do speak English and Afrikaans and that’s it.

Anyway back to my point. So today is the 21st of December 2012 and according to the Mayan Calendar, we’re all supposed to die today. Obviously this is complete bullshit, but I like to get people’s knickers into knots and make them think that I’m serious when I say I can’t wait for the Zombie Apocalypse.  Here’s the thing. I joke. I make funny:

[ johk]  Show IPA noun, verb, joked, jok·ing.

1. something said or done to provoke laughter or cause amusement, as a witticism, a short and amusing anecdote, or aprankish act: He tells very funny jokes. She played a joke on him.
So today’s tribute is for the ones that I was looking forward to seeing, but never got to:
The Zombies
Thing is, the end of the world could have been provoked by zombies, natural disasters, aliens, robots, Dr Evil, etc, but my favourite out of everything that could have happened has GOT to be the zombies. Imagine the hordes of people who irritate you on a daily basis turning into zombies. You’d have a very good excuse to bash them in the face then, amIright? lol
The idea of the zombie came from George A. Romero’s 1968 film Night of the Living Dead and has since then the zombie has been about as famous as the vampire, the mummy, the werewolf and various other nightmares. Hopefully Stephanie Meyer won’t make them sparkle in another one of her novels (lol).
SO if you’re feeling in the mood to watch zombie movies in the spirit of the world apparently ending, check these out, they’re the best I’ve seen:
  • 28 Days Later
  • The Cabin in the Woods (SUCH a random movie, so yea…)
  • Dawn of the Dead
  • Day of the Dead
  • I am Legend
  • Night of the Living Dead (All of them)
  • Pet Cemetery (Both)
  • Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides
  • Resident Evil (All of them)
  • Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island
  • Shaun of the Dead
  • The Walking Dead (TV Show)

For a longer list of things to watch, check out the List of Zombie Films on Wikipedia here:

Also enjoy some awesome youtube clips I found of my little friends doing their thang and scaring the bejeepers out of Americans. Gotta love it!

Happy Apocalypsing!

Tribute Thursday: Twilight vs Harry Potter memes

Aloha again my darlings!

This won’t be a very long tribute post, but it WILL be a funny one!

I’m officially taking my hat off to all the people who have created funny Twilight vs Harry Potter memes, because Harry Potter is king!

Hope that made you guys laugh!

Tribute Thursday: Christina Aguilera

Ola and happy Thursday my sexy cherries and daggers!

Christina Aguilera

So remember in the late 90’s and early naughties when the world’s population was
divided between the Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears fans? Apparently the
two pop princesses of the time were each other’s biggest haters. Who even knows
if that was ever the truth! But regardless of whether it was true or not and
although I did like Britney a lot, from the moment Christina Aguilera did Lady
Marmalade with Pink, Maya and Lil Kim – I was 100% Team Christina!

To me she was (and still is) a goddess! She’s beautiful, talented and has a raw
sex appeal that’s totally effortless and was absolutely perfect for the movie
Burlesque. She is so amazing and such an inspiration!

Alrighty I’m done drooling. She was born Christina Maria Aguilera on  December 18, 1980 somewhere in Staten Island, New York and is half Irish and half Latin.
She was one of many who were part of the Mickey Mouse Club who blossomed
into the sexy teen who sang Genie in a Bottle and later became known for her
provocative lyrics and clothes.

Lady Marmalade was born, then Dirrty then Can’t
Hold Us Down and Not Myself Tonight. This year Christina released the album
Lotus, another amazing album showing both her soft and sexy sides and of course
showcasing that delicious voice of hers.

Oh and she also happened to be the star of one of my favourite movies EVER – Burlesque with Cher, which is about a small-town girl who goes to LA to become a dancer and gets sucked into the amazing world of old-school glamour and beautiful music.

So for this Tribute I’m not going to add music videos to songs of hers we already know, I’m going to add some of the performances I thought were her most amazing and love the most, starting with her performance of “Fever” at a Burlesque club in LA that landed her the role in the movie in the first place. Caution – it’s HOT!!

Have a sexy Thursday peeps!

Tribute Thursday: The Origin of Halloween

Ola my sexies!

I know it’s quite the controversial topic, but I’ve always wondered, where did Halloween originate from?

According to many people, websites and books, Halloween (which is celebrated on October 31st) originated with the Celtics sometime in the 16th century and back then was called Samhain.

Samhain is a Gaelic festival marking the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter or the “darker half” of the year. Most commonly it is held on 31 October–1 November, or halfway between the autumn equinox and the winter solstice. Along with Imbolc, Beltane and Lughnasadh it makes up the four Gaelic seasonal festivals.

So although it is a well-known American holiday, Halloween has Gaelic origins. “Americans have fostered them, and are making this an occasion something like what it must have been in its best days overseas. All Halloween customs in the United States are borrowed directly or adapted from those of other countries” – Ruth Edna Kelley author of The Book of Hallowe’en (1919).

Halloween is also thought to have been influenced by the Christian holy days of All Saints’ Day (also known as All Hallows, Hallowmas or Hallowtide) on November 1 and All Souls’ Day on November 2. They are a time for honoring the saints and praying for the recently departed who had yet to reach Heaven. Who’d have known?

Soooo did you go trick or treating?

Even if you’re too old, it’s still fun….

Happy Halloween peeps!

Tribute Thursday: The Movie Legends of Halloween

Hey again my darlings!

Today I’m tributing, not the origin of Halloween itself – because there are so many twisted stories out there that I don’t wanna stand on any toes by doing so -, but the legends that have made Halloween what it is today and that’s the slashers of the big screen!

Do you know each one’s story?

Well, you’re lucky I’m here to tell it to you then!

Charles Lee “Chucky” Ray is a serial killer and does voodoo for fun and when a cop chases him to a toy store and shoots him, he does a voodoo ritual right before he dies and his soul gets transferred to a “Good Guy” doll, turning him into the cute and loveable little serial killer we all just wanna hug… awwww…

Jason Voorhees, the son of Pamela Voorhees, was born deformed. He lived with his mother at Camp Crystal Lake (his mother was the camp cook), in the city of Crystal Lake. Jason was bullied incessantly until, in 1957, he tried to prove to the bullies that he could swim and drowned in Crystal Lake… or so they think. Pamela kills a whole bunch of teens to avenge her son, only to get killed eventually. Then, Jason comes back (From living a life as a hillbilly? Chilling with monkeys like Tarzan?) fully grown and out to do what his mother did for him, kill teens. So Sweet.

Michael Myers was raised in the small, mid-west town of Haddonfield, Illinois. At age 6 Michael murdered his oldest sister, Judith, on Halloween night, because he is a crazy little shit. After being locked up in Smith’s Grove Mental Hospital, Michael (who’s now 21 years old) escapes on October 30. That night he tracks down his baby sister, Laurie Strode (who has been adopted and is oblivious to her violent roots) and proceeds to murder two of her friends. Throughout the entire Halloween series, it’s a cat and mouse game of Michael looking for Laurie, trying to kill her and Laurie trying to run away from him. Eventually he does kill her and he is nowhere to be seen again…

Personally I have no idea who this dude is. I’ve never watched the Hellraiser movies, but apparently Pinhead is the shit. Captain Elliott Spencer became the lead Cenobite (whatever that might be) in 1921 when he opened the Lament Configuration puzzle box. He originally comes to earth to harvest souls. Don’t know how this makes him a badass, but hey.

Freddy’s my favourite serial killer, so I’m going to give you his whole story:

In April 1941, a young girl was accidentally locked in the sanitarium of Westin Hills Psychiatric Institute in Springwood over the holidays. The inmates kept her hidden for days. She was raped… hundreds of times. When she was found, she was barely alive. That girl was Amanda Krueger, her child was Freddy – the bastard son of a hundred maniacs.

Frederick Charles Krueger was born in February 1942 and was shifted from one foster home to another throughout his childhood, learning nothing but torment and hatred along the way.

Called Freddy, he was constantly ridiculed for his infamous and brutal conception. It was then he started murdering small animals, and as he grew into adulthood, he turned his masochistic behavior on himself. After suffering abuse from his stepfather for many years, he brutally murdered him with a razor.

Freddy finally returned to his hometown of Springwood and was disgusted to see the picture of a perfect town, full of happy families in their tidy homes. With that jealousy and disgust building up inside him Freddy became one of the most notorious child-killers alive. Finding employment maintaining the boilers at an old steam-plant on the outskirts of town, Freddy would settle down and have a family of his own, all the time plotting his revenge upon life itself.

Whilst working in the plant he went on to construct the first of his imfamous 6 inch bladed gloves. Made from and old glove and four razor sharp blades that he attached to the glove with interlocking metal sections and rivets he began his killing spree, known as the Springfield Slasher. From 1975-1977 he kidnapped and murdered 23 children.

Freddy’s downfall came when his wife discovered the bladed glove and a multiple of newspaper clipping about the child murders in their basement. Despite her tearful assurances that she would not tell what she knew, the paranoid Freddy would go on to throttle his wife in front of his horrified daughter.

Soon afterwards, Freddy was arrested and charged with the murders of his wife and the missing children of the town. However, in their haste, the bungling officers forgot to read Freddy his rights, he was unexpectedly freed on a technicality.

Seeing the threat he posed, the court placed his daughter in an orphanage.

The enraged parents of Springwood, OH then took the law into their own hands. They followed Krueger to a building where he took his victims and ignited it with gasoline into a raging inferno. However, no one expected the end result of this act. Freddy’s soul was so corrupt that it was decided he could be of use to dream demons imprisoned in hell. When he was promised eternal life in the world of dreams, Freddy could hardly refuse. Ever since that night, Krueger has taken his revenge on the parents of Springwood by stalking their children through their dreams. Each time he is able to twist what would seem to be a normal dream into his own brutal imagination’s delight of terror. Some children have escaped thinking they have defeated him, only to have him rise again sometime later. There is only one documented case of Krueger meeting his match. While in hell, he was able to awaken Jason Voorhees, of Camp Crystal Lake infamy. Freddy was then able to use Jason to strike fear into the kids of Elm Street. This plan backfired when the masked killer could not be shut down. This led to a big confrontation both in the dream and real world. Freddy still lingers in the pits of hell with no indication if or when he will return.

Hope you enjoyed my tribute to the greatest Slashers of all time!

Happy Thursday

Tribute Thursday: Lolita Fashion

Good morning my darlings!

Knee-length skirts, petty-coats, corsets… they’re all a goth girl ever dreams of as she grows up. Pussybows, big hair, black stockings – we all know about it, but where did  it originate? And why do we love them so much?

Lolita Fashion

According to

“Lolita fashion is a subculture in Japan influenced by Victorian and Edwardian era dress. Also including the costume dress worn in the Rococo era in France, Lolita fashion is best known for its cross over into Gothic style and the wide array of sub-styles represented by its practitioners. Most often, Lolita fashion refers to those who wear skirts or dresses to their knees, a petticoat, long, often times monochromatic socks, and a wide array of accessories covered in lace or ribbon. The goal in many cases is to imitate the appearance of a child or a doll.”

There are different types of Lolita categories:

Gothic Lolita, Sweet Lolita, Casual Lolita, Hime Lolita, Shiro Lolita, Kuro Lolita, Classic Lolita, Country Lolita, Sailor Lolita, Wa Lolita, Guro Lolita, Punk Lolita, Ero Lolita, Cosplay Lolita and Kodona Aristocrat.

It’s been labelled as “street fashion” in Japan, but nowadays it’s quite popular all over the world.

Love it as much as I do?

Have a fab day peeps!

Tribute Thursday: Marilyn Monroe

Good morning my awesome peeps!

So today is going to be my 50th post on my blog and I thought, why not dedicate it to the most beautiful lady that ever walked the earth?

The legendary, the gorgeous;

Marilyn Monroe

Now known by her stage name, Marilyn was born as Norma Jeane Mortenson on June 1, 1926. She was (and is) a famous sex symbol adored by millions of fans worldwide and was at her prime in the 1950’s and 1960’s starring in movies such as Some Like it HotGentlemen Prefer Blondes and Seven Year Itch.

Let’s not forget that Marilyn Monroe was not only a sexy and talented actress, but was the first model to ever shed her clothes for Playboy magazine, becoming an icon all on her own.

One little blog will never be able to describe her legend, try as I might, but from the amount of celebrities imitating her in music videos, movies, singing about her in songs and showcasing her in other types of productions, I’m sure you get the point.

Tragically Marilyn was found dead in her home on August 5, 1962 at the tender age of 36. To this day nobody knows if it was suicide or if there was something more sinister to the story.

Have you ever actually seen the video of Marilyn singing the famous Happy Birthday song to John F Kennedy?

You. Are. Welcome!

Happy Thursday my lovelies!

Tribute Thursday: Show me how you Burlesque

Hey my darlings!

Today’s Tribute Thursday is dedicated to one of the sexiest and most fabulous dance styles of today’s age:

Burlesque originated in the 16th century and was originally intended as a “mockery” art-form to make people laugh by using theatrical performances that make fun of known plays of their day.

In 1868 Lydia Thompson and her British Blondes made their way to American soil and introduced a variety show of sexy and funny performances in (gasp!) nude tights…. which brought on a whole new era in Burlesque.

Lydia Thompson and her British Blondes

According to, in 1893 The World’s Fair Columbian Exhibition opened in Chicago. Among the most infamous performers is Little Egypt, who introduces the exotic “belly dance” to America. A musical cue improvised by Sol Bloom (Doo-doo-doo-doo-doo, doodoo doody-doody-doo) becomes synonymous with the burgeoning art of the “hoochie-coochie.”

From there saloon girls, belly dancers and various other performers got onto the parody bandwagon and basically the Burlesque we’ve all come to know and love was born with seductive strip-teases and lip-syncing to funny tracks becoming the must-see shows of the day.

Some of the most recognised Burlesque stars of the hay-day till today include Josephine Baker, Lola the Vamp, Bettie Page,  Miss Polly Rae, Marie Dressler, Gypsy Rose Lee,  Tracy Phillips, Sally Rand, Tura Satana, Satan’s Angel, Ann Corio, Michelle L’amour, Dita Von Teese, Catherine D’lish, and Sherry Britton.

Tribute Thursday: Avenged Sevenfold

Good morning peeps!

Another Thursday, another Tribute…

Today’s tribute was introduced to me by a sweet small-town boy I dated a while back. This boy was literally obsessed with them, and with good reason too!

Avenged Sevenfold

Avenged Sevenfold or (A7X) is a heavy metal, hard rock, metalcore band from Huntington Beach, California who formed in the late 1990’s.

Members: M. Shadows the vocalist, Synyster Gates the lead guitarist, Zacky Vengeance the rhythm guitarist and Johnny Christ the bassist.

The band has 5 albums to their name,   one live album/compilation/DVD, and eighteen singles and sold more than four million albums worldwide (thank you Wikipedia!)

In my own opinion they’re like a modern version of Metallica, but you can make your own mind up about them:

Happy Thursday my darlings!

Tribute Thursday: Roxey Ann Caplin – The Inventor of the Corset

Hey my darlings,

sorry for the late Tribute Thursday post!

Thing is, I went to my post office this morning and this BEAUtiful corset was waiting there for me (pics to be posted asap!) and I couldn’t help but strut along everywhere with it. I’ve gone to the shops, walked around my house and even walked the dog in it this morning, just because I can!

Anyway, which made me want to dedicate this Tribute Thursday to the inventor of the CORSET or the Brassiere:

Roxey Ann Caplin

Roxey Ann Caplin was a Canadian writer and inventor in the 18th century who worked as one of the first (if not the first) corsetmakers in London. For some reason I can’t find much of this amazing woman and fashionista on the web, but I do want to give her a beeeeg thank you for inventing something that help even the most self-concious girl feel like absolute sex!

So fellas, buy your ladies a corset, you won’t regret it!

Happy Thursday (well since the post is delayed, happy Friday hehe)
